June 12, 2011 : interdepartmental swim meet

For this competition, the 16th best swimmers of the department "Rhône" was selected to create 2 teams with 8 swimmers each. Rachel had the 9th best time, so she was selected in the second team. Romane had the 17th best time, so she was selected as substitute swimmer of the first team.

As Rachel couldn't swim the competition (because of her collarbone), she was replaced by another swimmer (subsitute of the second team). As all the swimmers of the first team were able to swim, they didn't need Romane. She just swam one individual race, but her (good : almost 3 second less than her previous best time !) result didn't count in the team results.

Romane and Rachel were very desappointed to not be able to swim for the departmental swim team, but they learned what team spirit is. They swam the trainings, they wore the team's t-shirts and even shorts. And they encouraged the swimmers during the races against 5 other departments. The Rhône department won the competition easily. The level was very high.

I think it will be a good memory for them.
